Competition

The Solar Decathlon is an international competition in which teams from colleges and universities around the world construct energy-efficient, commercially feasible solar-powered homes.

The 2007 competition takes place October 12–19 in Washington, D.C.

The Cornell University Solar Decathlon team entered the competition for the first time in 2005, when we placed second out of 18 teams. In October 2007, we are aiming for first place, with the goal of educating our peers and the public through the design and construction of an economically scalable solar home.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is the primary sponsor of the Solar Decathlon.
