The electrical power subteam is responsible for harnessing the electromagnetic energy produced by the sun and converting it into a useful form, which is the keystone of the Solar Decathlon. This subteam designed and installed the system that powers all of the electrical workings of the house—from the television to the electric car.

  • Doug Bishop, Materials Science & Engineering ’07, spent a semester working in Ghana, decided to quit crew and devote himself to activities that had more social value.
  • David Hoffer, Civil Engineering ’10, learned about energy conservation by living in a cabin without electricity for two months.
  • Wilbur Kan, Mechanical Engineering ’08, captains the club Ultimate team and is arguably the best Frisbee thrower on campus.
  • Thomas Murray, Mechanical Engineering ’10, loves to build massive snowmen in the winter, keep an eye on Libe Slope for one.
  • David Sprachman, Mechanical Engineering ’08, was conscripted onto the team by Wilbur at the last second.
  • Evan Ture, Materials Science & Engineering ’09, boasts his favorite movie is the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
