This weekend, Cornell University Sustainable Design had a wonderful a return trip to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. The two Saturday workshops were a success with almost 100 kids creating beautiful hanging gardens. We re-purposed old plastic bottles by cutting holes in one side, filling the bottles with soil, and planting vegetable seeds inside. Each child got to take home their very own mini-vegetable gardens and will hopefully see some sprouts within a week. Everyone had a really great time at this event – parents, children, and CUSD members alike, and we certainly look forward to more projects with BCM in the future!

This is a great project! In addition to the opportunity for Brooklyn kids to learn a little about sustainability, it’s really cool that they got to bring home their own mini vegetable planter. To meet other Cornell technical people, check out the Cornell Engineer Panel.
